Taking time to document current assignments, upcoming deadlines, quizzes and tests and writing them down

Determining what needs to happen and when, and starting with the most “daunting” task first. This is where we build grit and perseverance!

For years, I watched super smart kids struggle to turn in their assignments on time and get passing grades.

As a special education teacher, it’s a pattern I’ve seen over and over again: really bright, creative, thoughtful students who struggle to get the grades they want despite hours of studying, often misplace their belongings or assignments, struggle to start their homework independently, and always seem to be playing catch-up.
​
I saw the gap between what students were capable of and what they were achieving, and I knew that there was more I could do to help these struggling students and their families.
